January 10, 2016
Kohl Center– Madison, Wis.Coach
Bobbie KelseyOpening Statement:"We're very happy with the win, obviously we wanted to get this game after we dropped the last two against some really formidable opponents. Penn State is big, they're strong but overall I was happy with our play. We just know more and tougher teams are coming in here and we're going to their places so we have to tighten up in some areas but we're happy to win the game, it was a good game."
Â
On this game possibly being Dakota Whyte's best:"Shooting-wise this might be the best game. She came out a little sluggish, a little slow but Dakota has a way of kind of seeing things and because she has three phases to her game, she can finish at the rim, she can pull up and she can shoot the three. That's kind of what we preach to all of them is that you have to be able to do those three things."
Â
On having 22 assists after having only six last game:"We're never going to complain about that. I always tell them if you get an assist, you have to think about that as you scoring."
Â
On Cayla McMorris's shot improvement:"Cayla's shot has come a long way because when she came here she really couldn't do some of the stuff you see here doing now. She can do a step-back three, she really couldn't do that before. She gets in the gym and she works on it and she wants to be better and you want kids that want to be better."
Â
Dakota WhyteOn why she has been playing so well during Big Ten games:"I think that is just because Big Ten play is the most important time of the season and because that is the case, you have to step up and play the best you can."
Â
On the improvement of her 3-point shot:"Just with repetition and just continuing to shoot, but I think another thing with that is just believing that I can shoot the three. I think that 50 percent of it going in itself is just believing that I can shoot it."
Â
Cayla McMorrisOn why her turnaround shot has improved:"I would just say playing with confidence. I've done those shots before, I've played in the post before. I'm more like a versatile guard so I can take my defender inside the paint. I've worked on those shots before so I know I can hit those shots."
