Wisconsin athletics celebrates Dr. Seuss and National Read Across America Day
Madison, Wis. — "The more that you READ, the more things you will KNOW. The more that you LEARN, the more places you'll GO."
For decades, Dr. Seuss's words have motivated and inspired young children to pick up a book and discover the importance and fun of reading.
To honor Dr. Seuss and encourage reading, the National Education Association (NEA) has declared his birthday, March 2, National Read Across America Day. The day promotes reading and literacy in the classroom.
To celebrate Read Across America day, Wisconsin Athletics is releasing its newest Badger Storytime video, featuring redshirt senior hurdler on the track and field team, Brenna Detra, reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

Badger Storytime is a new, free video series program showcasing Wisconsin student-athletes reading their favorite childhood books out loud. The videos will be posted on UWBadgers.com and aim to provide a fun perspective on reading.
Our first video features senior women's ice hockey forward, Baylee Wellhausen, reading "Bad Dog Marley," and our second video features senior men's ice hockey defender, Tim Davison, reading "The Big Bucky Badger Mystery."
So, bring the Badgers into your classroom this March, and celebrate reading with others!
