Wisconsin announces UW Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2025

MADISON, Wis. — University of Wisconsin Director of Athletics Chris McIntosh announced on Thursday that 12 outstanding athletes and staff will be inducted into the UW Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025.

The UW Athletic Hall of Fame will hold its induction ceremony during Hall of Fame weekend on September 5 and 6. The inductees will also be honored inside Camp Randall Stadium during Wisconsin Football's meeting with Middle Tennesee (3 p.m. CT). 

Contemporary Era athletes (after 1974) include Mohammed Ahmed (Track & Field and Cross Country, 2009-14), Dorcas Akinniyi Jansen (Track & Field, 2008-13), Molly Engstrom (Women's Hockey, 2001-05), Travis Frederick (Football, 2009-12), Frank Kaminsky (Men's Basketball, 2012-15), Mary Massei Landini (Softball, 2010-14), Joe Pavelski (Men's Hockey, 2004-06), Cara Walls (Women's Soccer, 2011-14), James White (Football, 2010-13) and will be joined by heritage-era athlete Tom Shipley (Baseball, 1970-74). They will be accompanied by Martin Smith in the Coaches/Administration category and Matt Lepay for Special Service.

  • Four-time Olympian (2012, 2016, 2020, 2024)
  • 2020 Olympic silver medalist in the 5,000 meters for Canada

  • Bronze medalist in the 5,000 meters at the 2019 World Championships, a first for a Canadian runner

  • Three-time indoor All-American in the pentathlon (2010, 2011 and 2012)

  • Member of Team USA for the 2010 NACAC Under-23 Championships

  • Two-time Olympic medalist for Team USA, winning a bronze in 2006 and a silver in 2010
  • Named the top defenseman at the 2010 Winter Olympics
  • Five-time member of the U.S. Women’s National Team for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships, winning gold in 2005, 2008 and 2009, and silver in 2004 and 2007
  • Named to the WCHA’s 10th anniversary top 10 team
  • Named to the WCHA’s 25th anniversary top 25 team
  • Part of the Brampton Thunder team that won the first championship of the CWHL in 2008
  • The Molly Engstrom Award, introduced in 2011, is presented annually to Wisconsin’s top prep defenseman

  • Drafted in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys
  • In 2013, became the first rookie in Dallas’ franchise history to start every game at center; was selected to the NFL All-Rookie team
  • Named a captain for the Dallas Cowboys in 2016
  • Selected to five Pro Bowls and earned First-Team All-Pro honors in 2016
  • The 2020 George Halas Award winner, given yearly by the Pro Football Writers of America to an NFL player, coach or staff member who overcomes the most adversity to succeed

  • Winner of the 2015 Naismith College Player of the Year award
  • First in UW history to win National Player of the Year (Wooden, Naismith, Oscar Robertson)
  • The 18th consensus All-American in UW history
  • Just the second player in UW history to post 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocks
  • Set UW single-game record with 43 points vs. North Dakota (11/19/13)
  • Set the UW career blocks record (153)
  • His 66 blocks in 2013-14 tied for the third-best single-season mark in UW history
  • Helped lead the Badgers to back-to-back Final Fours in 2014 and 2015
  • Helped Wisconsin to a win over undefeated Kentucky in the 2015 Final Four to reach the program’s first national championship game since 1941

  • As a junior in 2013, batted .421, had a slugging percentage of .672, posted 82 hits, 51 runs and 131 total bases, ranking first in program history
  • Two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection in 2013 and 2014
  • Second Team All-Big Ten selection in 2011
  • Named to the NFCA Great Lakes all-region first team in 2014 and second team in 2013

  • Led UW twice in batting average and ranked in the top three in the nation in hitting
  • In 1974, tied Harvey Kuehn for most hits in UW history (148), averaging over a hit and a half per game at UW
  • First UW athlete to benefit from the NCAA’s redshirt rule
