Mueller named to NSCAA All-America team

Junior is Badgers’ first third-team All-American selection since 2006

MADISON, Wis. – After an incredible season where he led the Wisconsin men's soccer team to runner-up finishes in the Big Ten regular season and Big Ten tournament title races, junior Chris Mueller made history becoming the program's eighth National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American.

The NSCAA announced on Friday that Mueller was selected to the third team, making him the fifth third-team selection in school history, joining current assistant coach Aaron Hohlbein on the exclusive list.

Mueller earned All-America status after recording one of the best seasons of his collegiate career in 2016. Mueller was also selected to the All-Big Ten first team and Midwest All-Region first team this year, becoming the first Badger to earn the accolades since 2013 and just the 19th first-team All-Big Ten honoree in program history.

Mueller played in all 19 games this season, leading the team in points (27), goals (8), shots (60), assists (11) and shots on goal (30).

Mueller is the first All-America selection since 2013 when AJ Cochran was named to the first team. He is the first third-team honoree since Hohlbein garnered the status in 2006.
