University of Wisconsin Compliance Mission Statement
The UW-Madison Compliance Office is committed to a comprehensive compliance program that educates the necessary constituents about the importance of adhering to NCAA, Big Ten, and institutional rules. We view athletics compliance in terms of educational programs in conjunction with strict rules enforcement procedures. The existence of a quality compliance program depends on the willingness of coaches, administrators, staff personnel, student-athletes and representatives of athletics interests to learn and abide by NCAA Bylaws, Big Ten Conference rules, and University regulations and to ask questions when compliance issues arise.
The Athletic Compliance Office strives to make the compliance education process pertinent and understandable, while providing information on existing, revised, and new regulations and interpretations. Cooperation from student-athletes, athletic department and university staff, representatives of athletics interests, and all UW-Madison supporters is crucial to the success of the Athletics Compliance program, the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the institutional mission of UW Madison. This commitment to athletics compliance ensures institutional control over the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and furthers the institutional mission of UW-Madison.
The University of Wisconsin is committed to operating our athletics program with the highest ethical standards and consistent with NCAA, Big Ten, and university rules and regulations. We appreciate your loyal support and continued interest in Wisconsin Athletics, and we remind everyone of their obligation to operate within the rules, to report any violations of the rules, and to use our Compliance Office as resource to answer any questions.
The compliance information contained on this site is provided as a reference for many NCAA rules that may apply to you, but by no means covers all situations that may occur. Therefore we ask that you contact our Compliance Office with any questions that arise. Through your proactive efforts, we can help protect our great university, along with the eligibility of our recruits and current student-athletes. On Wisconsin!
Sincerely,
Chris McIntosh, Director of Athletics
