MADISON, Wis. – The Badgers (9-16, 2-10 B1G) enjoy a bye week, having an eight-day break before they travel to Nebraska (17-7, 8-3) on Sunday in the only meeting between the two teams this season. Tip time is 2 p.m. from Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.
1. McBUCKETS FOR 1,000: Senior Cayla McMorris notched her 1,000th career point, hitting a driving layup early in the third quarter against OSU to pull the Badgers within three (35-32). McMorris also dished off a career-high seven assists and tied her career-high with 13 rebounds against the Buckeyes. The 6-0 guard earned her fifth-career double-double and fourth this season with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
2. LAST TIME OUT: Despite playing strong defense, Wisconsin dropped two games last week. The Badgers fell to Minnesota, 71-61, on Wednesday before losing to No. 18 Ohio State, 68-55, on Saturday. UW held the Golden Gophers to their third-lowest point total of the season and the Buckeyes to their second-lowest point total this year.
3. BOARDING BADGERS: Wisconsin outrebounded its third-straight opponent, outboarding the OSU 43-37. The Badgers also outrebounded Illinois 44-32 on Jan. 28 and Minnesota 44-38 on Jan. 31. Over the last three games, UW is averaging 43.7 rebounds per game while foes are averaging 35.7 boards per contest, a plus 8.0 rebounds per game advantage.
4. TOUGH DEFENSE: UW has held five Big Ten opponents to some of their lowest single-game point totals this season, including the last two foes. Wisconsin held No. 18 Ohio State to 68 points, its second-lowest point total of the season, nearly 19 points below its season average. UW also held Minnesota to their third-lowest point total of the season on Jan. 31, 14 points below its season average.
5. BENCH POINTS: UW's bench has outscored its opponents' reserves in four of the last five games with one tie. On the season, Wisconsin is getting 20.2 points off the bench, compared to 14.8 for foes (+5.4). Suzanne Gilreath averages 9.5 points per game, Abby Laszewski adds 6.3 points per game, and Kendall Shaw chips in 4.0 points per game.
