MADISON, Wis. – A strong non-conference schedule, featuring teams from 10 different conferences, will kick off the 2019-20 Wisconsin women's basketball schedule, head coach Jonathan Tsipis announced on Tuesday.
Â
Wisconsin plays at Pac-12 Conference challenger Colorado on Nov. 15 as well as traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday to the Bahamas. UW takes on SEC challenger Arkansas, which advanced to the regionals of the 2019 WNIT Tournament, and Ball State from the Mid-American Conference at the Bahamas Hoopfest. Â The Badgers also play at Georgia Tech for the 13th annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge and at North Dakota State on Dec. 8.
"The opportunity to travel on the road to neutral site games against Arkansas and Ball State in the Bahamas will specifically prepare us for the Big Ten Tournament," added Tsipis. "Playing at Georgia Tech in the B1G/ ACC Challenge and at Colorado will help our young roster learn quickly how to play away from home."
Wisconsin faces in-state rival Milwaukee as well as Eastern Illinois, Alabama State and WNIT first-round participant Prairie View A&M at home in the Kohl Center. Â Â
"I am excited to add four freshmen plus Carmen Backes to our group as well as the return of Courtney Fredrickson and Grace Mueller to the court. Most importantly, we always love to play in front of the best fans in the country in the Kohl Center, especially against instate rival UW Milwaukee."Â
