- Holds UW record for defensemen with seven points in a game
- Member of the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team that won gold
- Skated for Team USA at the 1981 World Championships
- Drafted 120th overall in the 1977 NHL draft by the Los Angeles Kings
- 2003 inductee into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team
- Opened a sporting goods store in Madison called Gold Medal Sports
- Coached youth hockey in Madison and was an owner/director at Capitol Ice Arena
