Served as the head coach baseball coach in 1917-18 while also serving as the head football and basketball coach during the 1918-19 season
In 1918, the baseball team was 4-9 and tied for sixth in the Big Ten at 1-5
Football team was 3-3 in 1918 including a 14-3 win at Ohio State
Basketball team was 34-19 in three years and won the 1917-18 Big Ten title in his first year, going 14-3 overall and 9-3 in conference play
Returned to coach the baseball team from 1921-32, finishing with a 140-105 record in 13 years; won the 1930 Big Ten title with a 9-1 record
UW's home baseball field was named Guy Lowman Field from 1952 until 1990, when the program was suspended
While coaching three sports, he was also a professor of physical education and director of men's physical education at UW
Also served as the chair of the College Physical Education Association, Wisconsin Society of Physical Education, and Western Conference Intramural Directors Association
