- 1997 NCAA champion in the 3000-meter steeplechase
- Four-time All-American in track; All-American in cross country
- Four-time Big Ten Champion including two straight in the steeplechase (1995 & 1996)
- Six-time All-Big Ten
- Went on to become a coach for 2016 Olympic silver medalist Evan Jager and 2021 Olympic silver medalist Courtney Frerichs
