Women's Openweights 16th at Head of the Charles

The Wisconsin women's openweight crew sent two boats to the Head of the Charles on Sunday. The UW eight finished 16th and the four placed 12th in its respective championship races.
The Badger eight rowed to a 16:59.440 to take 16th in the championship eight race. USRowing won with a time of 16:01.690. In second was Princeton in 16:10.840. The highest Big Ten school was Ohio State in fourth with a time of 16:30.610. Wisconsin placed 13th among colleges in the race that had 53 crews competing.
Wisconsin's entry in the championship four took 12th place in 19:15.720. A team from Germany won the race in 18:22.859, defeated USRowing, who crossed in 18:27.569. The Danish Rowing Team was third in 18:28.210, ahead of the first college team, Michigan. The Wolverines took fourth in 18:44.460. Wisconsin's four placed 6th among college teams. Thirty-one boats took part in the championship four event.
On Saturday, Wisconsin's second varsity eight and its novice eight competed at the Head of the Eagle in Indianapolis. Both Badger crews took top honors against similar boats from Indiana and Notre Dame, among others.
The Badgers' next event, their last of the fall, is the Head of the Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 28.
