US College Hockey Online awarded Badger forward Rene Bourque this week's Division I Player of the Week award. Bourque, a sophomore, scored both game-winning goals during the Badgers' sweep of North Dakota, while picking up two assists and nine shots-on-goal against the Fighting Sioux.
Bourque assisted on two of Wisconsin's four goals late in the third period Friday to help the Badgers enter overtime after a 6-2 deficit. The Lac La Biche, Alberta native found the back of the net during overtime for a UW 7-6 comeback win.
Saturday, Bourque snapped a 1-1 tie with just two minutes left in the game to help his team to the eventual 3-1 win. USCHO.com credits Bourque with almost single-handedly dealing North Dakota the two losses. Bourque has scored 6'3=9 in 15 games played so far this season.
