December 28, 2002 | Men's Hockey
The Badger men's hockey team resumes action this weekend at the 14th annual Bank One Badger Hockey Showdown at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. After a three-week break for exams and the Holidays, Wisconsin (5-11-0, 1-7-0 WCHA) faces Colgate (7-8-1, 2-4-0) at 8 p.m. on Sunday night, following the tournament opener between CCHA member Northern Michigan and ECAC representative Harvard at 5 p.m.
On Monday, the tournament concludes with the third-place game at 5 p.m. followed by the 2002 Bank One Badger Hockey Showdown Championship game at 8 p.m.
The semifinal game between the Badgers and Raiders is a re-match of the 1990 NCAA Championship game at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Wisconsin claimed the school 's fifth NCAA title over Colgate on April 1, 1990 with a 7-3 win. The teams have not played since then.
Wisconsin has won the Showdown championship eight times in the previous 13 years, most recently in 2000. Last year, the University of New Hampshire won the Pettit Cup.
