Ferris State Beats Massachusetts-Lowell in Badger Hockey Showdown

In game one of the Badger Hockey Showdown at the Kohl Center Saturday night, Ferris State outplayed the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, winning 7-4. The FSU Bulldogs advance to the championship game Sunday against the winner of game two, Wisconsin vs. Union.
The Bulldogs' Zac Pearson led Ferris State's offense with their first goal of the game only 1:41 into the game. By the end of the first frame, Jeff Legue and Mike Kinnie extended FSU's lead with goal number two and three, respectively.
Ferris State tallied a fourth goal before UMass-Lowell began to rally back in the second frame. After River Hawk goal's by Ben Walter, Danny O-Brien, and Mark Pandolfo, UML nearly ended the period only one goal down. Ferris State scored a late-period goal at 19:34 to end the first 40:00 up 5-3.
UML's Danny O'Brien nailed a power-play goal early in the third period to again pull the River Hawk's within one. Ferris State continued to penetrate the net and tallied its sixth and seventh goals before time expired to solidify the victory.
Game two of Wisconsin vs Union faces off at 7:35 Saturday night and the winner will advance to the championship game on Sunday to take on Ferris State.
