October 31, 2004 | Women's Rowing
The University of Wisconsin openweight crew team won five of the eight races entered. The team showed how strong they can be by facing adverse conditions as well as other tough boats Sunday in Elkhart, Ind.
The openweights continued their impressive season by racing against a strong head wind and choppy waters while each boat raced in two events throughout the day. The teams took first in the Four A Event, Four B Event, Four C Event, Eight A Event and Novice Eight A Event.
The Badgers edged out fellow Big Ten rival Michigan St. in all but two events. Michigan St. won the Eight A Event and the Eight C Event.
'We had an overall good day, Michigan St. was very good competition,' said head rowing coach Bebe Bryans. 'Even though the weather wasn 't that good, we still raced well and look forward to more competition in the fall season.
The Badgers will next be in action Sunday Nov. 7 in Princeton N.J.
