Freshman forward Meghan Duggan has been named the USCHO.com Women's Offensive Player of the Week, the website announced Tuesday. Earlier on Tuesday, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association named Duggan its Rookie of the Week.
A native of Danvers, Mass., Duggan scored three goals this past weekend as the Badgers claimed a win and a tie against their border rivals, the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Duggan opened the weekend with two goals in Wisconsin's 3-1 win over Minnesota last Saturday (Oct. 21), then added another goal early in the third period in Sunday 's (Oct. 22) 3-3 overtime tie.
For the season, Duggan now has six goals and three assists to rank third on the team in points with nine. She leads the nation in goals by a freshman and is tied for third in the country in points among rookies.
Duggan and the top-ranked Badgers return to the Kohl Center Oct. 27 and 29 to play host to North Dakota in a Friday-Sunday series. Faceoff for each game is slated for 2:07 p.m.
