November 21, 2006 | Women's Hockey
Wisconsin freshman Meghan Duggan has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week for the week of Nov. 20, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced on Tuesday afternoon. The honor is Duggan's second of the season, as she also earned the award on Oct. 23.
Duggan, a native of Danvers, Mass., scored four goals, including the game-winner last Saturday (Nov. 18), to lead the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers to a weekend WCHA road sweep of Bemidji State.
In the first game of the series, she opened the scoring 58 seconds into the contest and added another goal midway through the second period that proved to be the game-winner. She also tallied an assist to set a new career best for points in a game with three. Last Sunday (Nov. 19), Duggan again scored twice to set a new personal record for points in a series with five.
For the season, Duggan has recorded six multi-point games and ranks fourth among all Badgers in points with 17 (10 goals, seven assists). She ranks second in the nation in points among rookies.
On top of her two conference awards, Duggan was also named the USCHO.com Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 24.
Duggan and the Badgers return to the ice to play host to Minnesota Duluth Nov. 24-25 at the Kohl Center. Faceoff for each game is set for 2:07 p.m.
