
Clarkson Wins Badger Hockey Showdown

No. 15 Clarkson (13-5-1) defeated No. 18 Lake Superior State (12-6-2) by a 3-2 score to capture the 18th annual Badger Hockey Showdown, Saturday at the Kohl Center.
Sophomore Shea Guthrie broke a 2-2 tie at 14:34 of the third period to send the Golden Knights to their first title in the tournament in their second appearance. Guthrie's game-winning score gave him four points for the weekend after posting three assists in Clarkson's 6-2 victory Friday night over Wisconsin.
This afternoon, Clarkson grabbed a 2-0 lead early in the second period on junior Nick Dodge's fourth goal of the tournament, but Lake Superior State's Josh Sim tallied short-handed at 2:59 of the second and then tied the game at 10:35 of the third period.
CU's David Leggio made 27 saves in the victory, while LSSU's Jeff Jakaitis turned away 25 shots in defeat.
Wisconsin (7-10-2) faces Providence (4-12-1) this evening at 7:07 p.m., in the third-place contest. The game will be televised live on MyMadison TV and MyNetwork TV in Eau Claire and La Crosse, Wis. The game is also tape-delayed on Wisconsin Public Television at 10:30 p.m. The game can be heard live on 1310 WIBA-AM in Madison, Wis., or on the Wisconsin Radio Network throughout the state.
