MADISON, Wis.-- A week after blanking South Dakota State, the University of Wisconsin women's soccer team held Loyola-Chicago to a scoreless outing, defeating the Ramblers, 4-0, at the McClimon Complex on Sunday.
The Badgers scored a pair of goals in both the first and second halves, allowing just seven shots, including three on goal.
"I think we've done a pretty good job of talking about transition and team defending and actually executing during the game," head coach Paula Wilkins said. "We weren't as sharp at the beginning here. Loyola-Chicago came in and gave us some problems right off the bat and I think we need to be a bit more focused on specific parts of the game, and in those important moments. But we were able to keep the ball and make Loyola chase us around a little bit which opened up some gaps for us."

After a three-point performance in last weekend's win, sophomore Kodee Williams again provided much-needed support from the Badger bench, tallying a goal and an assist.
"After the South Dakota State game, I was really happy with Kodee's comments because she's really bought into the roll that she has," Wilkins said. "I think she is really effective coming off of the bench and causing problems for other teams and she's really displaying that by scoring goals and making things hard on the other team, as well as creating some things for her teammates."
Freshman midfielder McKenna Meuer earned the match's first goal and her first career goal as a Badger during the 20th minute. During Wisconsin's first corner kick of the afternoon, Meuer volleyed in senior Lindsey Johnson's header, following freshman Kinley McNicoll's corner kick, giving the Badgers the early 1-0 lead.
Eleven minutes later, Williams got in on the action, finding senior Monica Lam-Feist , who notched her second goal of the season, finishing off of the far post and helping the Badgers (3-0-0) carry a 2-0 advantage into the intermission.
Following Paige Adams' second goal of the season during the 56th minute, Williams closed the door on the Ramblers (1-2-0), earning her second goal of 2012 on an assist from senior Joana Bielefeld, sealing her second-straight three-point performance.
"We talk about team mentality here and how we need everyone to play their role and Kodee is really comfortable with where she is right now," Wilkins added. "She's really buying into this program and the success of the team and its making things a lot easier on everyone including the younger players."
Senior Lauren Gunderson recorded her third-straight shutout in net for the Badgers, tallying just a single save, while fellow senior Olivia Hoff closed the game by recording a pair of saves in 33 minutes of action.
The Badgers make their first road trip of the 2012 season next weekend, as they travel to California to take on a pair of nonconference foes, beginning with the No. 5 UCLA Bruins on Friday. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. CT.
