UW Chefs provide recipes for the holidays

MADISON, Wis. -- As the holdays approach, UW Executive Chef Herbert Hackworthy offers some delicious recipes that will make any celebration special.
The athletic department's food and beverage service features a professional cooking staff overseen by Executive Chef Herbert Hackworthy that caters all of the events for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. This includes serving the suites and special social functions as well as providing the daily training table meals for UW student-athletes. Here is the latest contribution from our table to yours.

My Grandmother's Spritz cookies
INGREDIENTS
• 1 cup butter
• 2/3 cup sugar
• 3 egg yolks
• 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
• 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS
Set oven temp 375*
Put butter in mixing bowl and add sugar gradually, then beat in egg yolks and Vanilla.
Should be creamy; gradually blend in flour.
Put dough in cookie press.
Turn out 1-inch long pieces on cookie sheets.
Bake at 375* for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes 5 to 6 dozen.
