Trinity Western exhibition on Jan. 1 set for 2 p.m.

Badgers play host to the Spartans to ring in the new year
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's hockey team will play its exhibition game on Friday, Jan. 1 against Trinity Western at 2 p.m. CT. A game time for that contest had not yet been announced.
The game against Trinity Western University, which is a Canadian school located in Langley, British Columbia, will be the first exhibition for the Badgers against a team other than the U.S. Under-18 Team since the Badgers skated against RIGA 2000, a team from Latvia, on Dec. 9, 2003. TWU is also the first team from Canada that the Badgers will play since UW skated against the University of Calgary on Dec. 31, 1991. Â
The game will be the first for the Badgers in 2016, with the team returning to Big Ten play for the first time in the new year the following weekend against Ohio State at the Kohl Center (Jan. 8-9).
Wisconsin opens Big Ten play this weekend with a trip to No. 12 Michigan. The Badgers and Wolverines meet Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT. Both games can be seen on the BTN2Go app and BTN2Go.com.
