TORONTO -- It was another day and another pair of medals for Michael Weiss, as the former Wisconsin swimmer won a silver medal in the 800-meter freestyle relay and bronze in the 200-meter freestyle at the TORONTO 2015 Pan American Games on Wednesday in Toronto.
Swimming for the United States, Weiss led off for the 800 Freestyle Relay team with a split of one minute, 48.39 seconds, as the group went on to secure a runner-up finish with a time of 7:12.20. Brazil won the event in 7:11.15.
Weiss claimed another podium finish individually, placing third in the 200 Freestyle with his time of 1:47.63. Weiss came on strong in the final 50 meters, but just missed beating out Frederico Grabich of Argentina, who edged Weiss by one one-hundredth of a second at 1:47.62.
Joao De Lucca from Brazil won the 200 Freestyle in 1:46.42.
It marked the second-straight day of podium finishes at the Pan Am Games for Weiss, who also helped the United States finish third in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay on Tuesday.
Weiss will compete next in the 400-meter individual medley on Thursday. Prelims are scheduled to begin at 9:23 a.m. CT and finals are slated for 6:24 p.m. at the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre.
