Breaking the Ice with Sam Cogan

First up in our series is Ottawa, Ontario native Sam Cogan

MADISON, Wis. -- With the 2015-16 Wisconsin women's hockey season starting up in October, UWBadgers.com goes beyond the masks to introduce fans to the three newest Badgers by breaking down some of their off-ice likes, dislikes, and quirks.

First up in our series is forward Sam Cogan.

Cogan, an Ottawa, Ontario native, played for the Nepean Junior Wildcats, tallying 35 points in 32 games her senior year, helping the Wildcats to win their first pennant as a program. During her junior season, she notched an impressive 100 points, recording 37 goals and 63 assists in 68 games. In international play, she helped Team Canada to a silver finish at the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation U-18 World Championships, and marked two goals in the 2014 IIHF World Championships to lift Team Canada to win the gold.

Cogan will sport number 7 this season, following the likes of current assistant coach Jackie Friesen, who wore the number during her last two seasons with Wisconsin, and Olympians Erika Lawler and Meghan Duggan.
