
Pawlik sits in seventh after first day of Aztec Invitational heptathlon

SAN DIEGO – Wisconsin women's track and field sophomore Casie Pawlik sits in seventh place after four events of the heptathlon at the Aztec Invitational on Thursday.
Pawlik has a score of 2,619 points, while former San Diego State standout Allison Reaser leads the field with 3,397 points.
A native of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Pawlik opened the heptathlon with a time of 15.20 seconds in the 100 hurdles to earn 815 points. Her time of 15.20 was the fifth-best time of the competition.
Pawlik cleared 4 feet, 8 3/4 inches in the high jump and threw the shot put 31-3 3/4 before ending the first day with a time of 26.55 in the 200 meters.
The heptathlon long jump, the fifth event of the heptathlon, starts at 11 a.m. CT on Friday. The only UW competitor on Thursday, Pawlik will be joined by several teammates on Friday during Wisconsin's outdoor opener.Â
