RIVERSIDE, Calif. - After winning the 100 and 200 meters at the Aztec Invitational on Friday, Wisconsin men's track and field senior
Lorenzo Larry followed it up on Saturday with a repeat performance at the UC-Riverside Spring Classic.
Larry paced the field in the 100 meters with a time of 10.60 seconds, and then followed up the race with a meet record in the 200 meters. The senior captured the crown in 21.21 to finish his weekend with four victories in the sprints.
Senior
Ryan Davis came in third in the 200 meters with a time of 21.57.
UW had a fantastic showing in the 400 meters with all four Badgers coming in the top seven. Junior
Corbin Ellis set a new personal record with a second-place finish in 47.55 while leading the pack on the podium.
Davis came in behind Ellis with a time of 48.09 to earn another third-place finish on the day while sophomore Eric Brown rounded out the top four with a run of 48.17.
Alex Teague placed seventh in the event with a time of 48.52.
Brandon Mortensen placed second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.53, which marked a new personal best for the senior. Sophomore
Trent Nytes finished with a time of 15.44 in the event.
Over at the Aztec Invitational, freshman
Travis Toliver started off his outdoor season with a remarkable performance in the javelin throw. Toliver tossed a distance of 201 feet, 6 inches (61.42 meters) which was good for the eighth-best mark in Wisconsin outdoor history, on his way to winning the event by over 20 feet.
Josh McDonald and
Riley Budde placed second and fourth, respectively, in the discus. McDonald heaved a distance of 182-8 1/2 (55.69m) while Budde had a mark of 174-3 1/2 (53.13m).
In the pole vault, freshman
Rashid Coulibaly tied for third place with a distance of 16-3 1/4 (4.96m) while
Tim Guthrie finished sixth with a mark of 15-9 1/4 (4.81m).
