Evening on a football field still resonates for team that made countless memories on the court
Â
MADISON, Wis. — They were riding the high of clinching their school's first trip to the Final Four in nearly 60 years. Landing in Madison certainly didn't bring the Wisconsin men's basketball team back down to earth.
In fact, thanks to more than 30,000 fans who turned out to greet the Badgers in their return home from a thrilling Elite Eight win, a stop at Camp Randall Stadium to celebrate their accomplishment had the opposite effect.
"All of us did our best to incite riots, I think, on State Street," said Mike Kelley, the team's point guard. "Every one of us said, 'We want to see all of you people on State Street.'"
