Pickett announced as semifinalist for MAC Hermann Trophy

UW midfielder also awarded first team All-Region
MADISON, Wis. – Although the Wisconsin women's soccer season has ended, the national recognition has not. UW midfielder Victoria Pickett was announced Tuesday morning as a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy as well as awarded First Team All-Region from United Soccer Coaches.
The Barrie, Ontario native was a centerpiece to Wisconsin's sweet 16 run this season, holding down head coach Paula Wilkins' midfield and opening up space for Wisconsin's forwards.
Pickett is just the third semifinalist in program history, the other being Rose Lavelle in 2015 and Heather Taggart in 1992. It is also her second consecutive season making an All-Region team.
Pickett logged one goal and four assists in 2018 for a total of six points.
Wilkins has coached one winner of the trophy: Christie Welsh in 2001 at Penn State.
At the beginning of 2018, the trophy's watch list had 75 players listed, including Pickett and Wisconsin forward Dani Rhodes. By the end of the season the list gets narrowed to 15 semifinalists and one winner.
The Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) has handed out the Hermann Trophy to the nation's best men's and women's soccer player for over two decades.
