Siverling, Whitehouse now eligible for All-America awards
MADISON, Wis. – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) named its 2018 Division I All-Conference Teams on Monday, and two Wisconsin women's rowers were selected.
The award, which replaces what used to be called the CRCA All-Region awards, recognizes outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains from each Division I rowing conference.
Senior rowers Lexi Siverling (Cadott) and Megan Whitehouse (Muskego) were so honored.
Siverling, already a 2018 First-Team All-Big Ten rower and member of the 2018 Big Ten All-Academic squad and a 2018 CRCA National Scholar-Athlete, adds to her rowing resume with this award.
The three-time NCAA varsity eight competitor for the Badgers, she rowed as the seven seat for UW's recent 15th-place finish in the event at the 2018 NCAA Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida.
In addition to her time at UW, Siverling rowed with the U.S. women's four last summer at the 2017 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Her boat placed 10th. She's been invited back to this year's selection camp.
Whitehouse, who sat six seat for Wisconsin's varsity eight this past season, earns CRCA All-Conference after earlier being named to the 2018 All-Big Ten Second Team. Whitehouse and the varsity eight's 15th-place NCAA finish helped the Badgers take 15th as a team.
Last season, Whitehouse was two seat for the Badgers' second varsity eight that took sixth at the NCAA championships, while she was also in the boat for the 2016 NCAA championships.
Along with her sister Monica, who was honored by the CRCA in 2014 as what was then All-Region, Megan makes the Whitehouses the first pair of sisters at UW to earn rowing recognition by the organization.
