October 10, 2018 | Men's Hockey
MADISON, Wis. – As the start of the 2018-19 Wisconsin men's hockey season nears, UWBadgers.com delves deeper into both the on and off-ice lives of each of UW's nine newest skaters, exploring topics ranging from favorite hockey memories to what they would ask for if they had one wish.
Next up for the Badgers is freshman goaltender Daniel Lebedeff.
A native of Helsinki, Finland, Lebedeff joins freshman defenseman Jesper Peltonen as just the second and third Finnish skaters to wear a Badger jersey. Before coming to Wisconsin, Lebedeff spent the 2017-18 season 40 minutes south of Madison, backstopping the Janesville Jets of the NAHL. Lebedeff tallied a 17-8-1 record with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage in 30 appearances for the Jets. Prior to his season in Janesville, Lebedeff played for the Madison Capitols (USHL) from 2015 to 2017. There, Lebedeff registered a .904 save percentage and 1618 saves. On the international stage, Lebedeff appeared on the ice for both the Under-16 and Under-18 Finnish National teams.
Lebedeff will wear No. 32 for the 2017-18 season. Other former Badgers to wear the No. 32 sweater include Kevin Granato, Mike Dibble and Dan Plante.
