COLLEGE PARK, MD. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team (10-3-3) heads to the East Coast for its second to last match of the season to take on Maryland in College Park. The match is set for 7 p.m. (CT) on Thursday, Oct. 19.
Here are five things to know:
1. KNOW THE OPPONENT:Â The Terrapins hold a 3-8-5 overall record this season, which includes a winless 0-7-1 conference record. Â The team is coming off a 5-0 loss against Iowa away from home on Sunday, Oct. 15.
The Badgers are 5-0-2 all-time against Maryland, with a 2-0-1 record at Ludwig Field. Last time out, Wisconsin took down the Terrapins 2-1 on Sept. 29, 2022.
2. BIG TEN RACE:Â The race for the 2023 Big Ten Championship is coming down to the wire, with the gap between first place Penn State and fifth place Wisconsin only being two points. The Nittany Lions are 5-0-3 with 18 points, followed by Indiana, Nebraska and Michigan State, who all have 17 points. Everything is still to play for heading into the final two matches of the season.
3. RECAPPING THE WEEK: The Badgers are coming off a 1-0 loss against Ohio State on Thursday, Oct. 15. It was a hard-fought match by the Badgers, but a goal by the Buckeyes in the 59th minute was the decider.
