INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Add another name to the Badgers headed to the 2024 Paris Olympics as senior Phoebe Bacon qualified Friday at the USA Swimming and Diving Trials in Indianapolis. Bacon took second in the 200-meter backstroke finals to secure her spot at the Paris games.

Bacon finished in a time of 2:06.27, topped only by US champion, Regan Smith, who finished in 2:05.16. This is the latest accomplishment in a banner year for Bacon, who also claimed the 2024 NCAA National Championship in the 200 backstroke and earned Big Ten Swimmer of the Championship at this year's conference meet.

The Paris 2024 games will mark Bacon's second Olympics after finishing fifth in the 200-meter backstroke at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Bacon is the 10th Badger to qualify for the 2024 Olympics, joining: Mohammed Ahmed (men's track - Team Canada), Lauren Carlini (volleyball), Grace Joyce (women's rowing), Alev Kelter (women's rugby), Lauren O'Connor (women's rowing), Dana Rettke (women's volleyball), Taiko Torepe-Ormsby (men's swimming - New Zealand), Maddie Wanamaker (women's rowing) and Sophia Vitas (women's rowing).
