CHICAGO – The Wisconsin men's and women's hockey teams will take part in "The Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series" on Saturday, Jan. 4 at historic Wrigley Field in Chicago, the Big Ten Conference and Chicago Cubs announced on Thursday. 

The UW women's hockey team will take on Ohio State in a rematch of the 2023 and 2024 NCAA Championship Games at 4:30 p.m., while the UW men will face defending Big Ten regular-season champion Michigan State at 8 p.m.. It will mark the first outdoor game at a baseball stadium for both programs. 

The day before, on Jan. 3, a doubleheader with Penn State meeting Notre Dame and Ohio State taking on Michigan, will also take place. 

The outdoor contest will be the women's hockey program's second-ever outdoor game after defeating Bemidji State, 6-1, at the 2010 Camp Randall Hockey Classic in Madison. 
 
The game will mark men's hockey's first outdoor hockey game since Feb. 17, 2013, when the Badgers won a 3-2 contest over Minnesota in the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic at Soldier Field in Chicago in front of 52,051.
 
UW most recently played games in Chicago's United Center, skating to a 2-2 tie on Jan. 20, 2019 against Notre Dame, and ending the top-ranked Fighting Irish's 16-game winning streak with a 5-0 victory on Jan. 21, 2018
 
The Badger men are 3-0-0 in outdoor hockey games beginning with a 4-2 triumph over Ohio State at Lambeau Field on Feb. 11, 2006, in the Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
 
UW also captured the Camp Randall Hockey Classic with a 3-2 victory over Michigan on Feb. 6, 2010, in Madison.
