MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team tied with Western Michigan 1-1 today, Sept. 1.
How it Happened
First Half
The first remained scoreless, with Wisconsin being persistent on the attack.
Western Michigan was playing with a gritty style edging the Badgers on fouls, 13-5.
The Badgers had the advantage in shots (4-2), shots-on-goal (2-1), and corners (3-1).
Second Half
Wisconsin came out of halftime with a different strategy earning two shots on goal within the first minute and a half.
The Broncos were able to find a gap in the defense in the 64th minute to break the scoring deficit.
Aryssa Mahrt capitalized in the 69th minute off a pass from Ashley Martinez. The game was now squared 1-1. She has now scored in three of the last four games.
The Badgers had the upper hand on shots (12-11) and shots-on-goal (7-5).
