Newcomer makes conference headlines after Badger Classic
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin women's cross country rookie Nora Gremban has been named the Big Ten Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Week after finishing as the runner-up at the Badger Classic to kick off her career as a Badger.
The Eagle River, Wis. native is the irst Badger to earn a weekly award since Peyton Sippy did so in 2022 after winning the Illinois Open.
It was well-warranted for the true freshman in her UW debut, as Gremban finished her 6K in 21:13.1—tallying a second-place finish to lead the way for the Badgers.
The newcomer continues to elevate her status as a runner, fresh off of earning the Gatorade Wisconsin Girls Cross Country Player of the Year award in 2024 after placing first in the WIAA Division II Cross Country meet to cap off her 2023 fall competition at Northland Pines High School.
Gremban and the Badgers are back in action this Friday, as they travel to Illinois to compete in the Big Ten Preview at the Orange and Blue Golf Course, set to start at 5:45 p.m. CT.
