
Wisconsin begins NCAAs with two program records

Badgers earn two All-American Honorable Mentions
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Wisconsin women's swim team started off day one of the NCAA Championships with program records in the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay.
The Wisconsin 200 medley relay team of Maggie Wanezek, Hazal Ozkan, Phoebe Bacon and Hailey Tierney earned All-American Honorable Mention with an 11th-place finish and a new program record with a time of 1:34.69.
Virginia won the event for the fifth year in a row and set an NCAA record with a time of 1:31.10.
The 800 freestyle relay team of Abby Carlson, Bacon, Abby Wanezek and Callahan Dunn placed ninth with the second All-American Honorable Mention and another program record with a time of 6:55.17. The Badgers dropped almost six seconds off their seed time of 7:01.20.
Stanford won the 800 freestyle with a time of 6:46.98.
Competition resumes on Thursday with the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle and the 200 free relay. Prelims begin at 12 p.m. (CT) and finals start at 8 p.m. (CT).
