Badgers dominate day one in Chicago

Day one filled with victories and PR at Badger Windy City Invite

CHICAGO - The Wisconsin women's track and field team had a successful day one at the Badger Windy City Invite full of PRs and victories. Wisconsin had four first-place finishes and six personal records in various events.

The weight throwers kicked off the day strong with Taylor Kesner winning with a throw of 73 feet (22.5m). Nora Skoraczewski and Danni Langseth also placed in the top five, Skoraczewski with a heave of 65-9 (20.04m) and Langseth with 64-4 (19.61m).

Luciana Aizpurua and Catalina Sanchious started the day for UW on the track in the 60 meter prelims. Aizpurua ran her personal best, sprinting the track in 7.50, moving her from No. 7 to No. 6 in the UW indoor record book. She followed that up with an eighth-place finish in the finals. Sanchious finished the sprint in 7.62.

Shaina Zinter and Kyla Saleh finished in 17th and 23rd in the 60 meter hurdle prelims. Saleh ran her personal best and Zinter had her season best.

Sara Mlodik crushed the 5000 meters for the Badgers, winning and running her personal best in 16:30.73.

Kylie Finger won the mile, cruising through it in 4:40.47, her personal best. She was followed by Leané Willemse who finished in third, running the track in 4:45.90. Zaira Malloy-Salgado and Eva Kuehn finished 8-9, both running PRS. Malloy-Salgado finished in 4:55.29 and Kuehn in 4:55.85.

The throwers continued their success in the shot put with Zonica Lindeque and Danni Langseth earning a 1-2 finish. Lindeque had her season best throw with a heave of 51-11 (15.82m). Langseth had a toss of 50-9 ½ (15.48m).

Jumper Elissa Perkins placed third in the long jump with a mark of 19-0 ½ (5.8m).
