To ensure a safe and enjoyable tailgating experience for you, both before and after each home game, and to not disrupt other patrons, please adhere to the following policies:
Q. Which sports can I tailgate for?
A. Tailgating is only permissible for football regular season games. Tailgating is prohibited for all other UW sporting events.
Q. I have parking in Lot 16 or Credit Union. How do I enter and exit the lot?
A. For the 2025 football season, Wisconsin Athletics is implementing an adjustment to street closures around historic Camp Randall Stadium to enhance gameday security. Monroe Street will be closed to unauthorized vehicle traffic beginning five (5) hours before kickoff through one (1) hour after the game between Randall Avenue and Monroe Street, directly in front of Camp Randall.
Lot 16 permit holders designated entry and exit is at the Randall Avenue entrance.
Credit Union permit holders will enter from the west at the intersection of Monroe Street and Regent Street. A vehicle checkpoint will be in place. Pull forward, place your vehicle in park, and show your Credit Union permit to a Wisconsin State Patrol Officer. A bomb detection K9 will conduct an exterior search of your vehicle. There is no need to exit or turn off your vehicle. Once cleared, the barrier will open, and you may proceed directly to park. As in past seasons, please wait until pedestrian traffic has slowed before exiting. All vehicles must exit by turning left (westbound) from the lot.
Please keep all drive lanes clear within the lot. This ensures permit holders can access their parking stall and emergency vehicles can quickly access the lot or nearby buildings if needed.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work together to make every gameday a safe and memorable one.
Q. Where can I park?
A. Patrons must display a valid mobile permit (or event hang tag) to the attendant upon arrival to the lot. A roll ticket will be given to mobile permit holders upon the scanning of a valid mobile permit. The roll ticket (or event hang tag) shall always be displayed on the vehicle during the duration of parking. Upon authorization to go ahead into the lot, patrons may occupy any available stall, unless otherwise directed by the lot attendant. Patrons should pay attention to posted signage or other barriers that may prevent a stall from being occupied. Parking stalls are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Parking at the UW Credit Union is only in the parking stalls. Parking or tailgating is prohibited off of the asphalt.
Parking for the Regent West lot is only in the lot in the entrance off of Regent Street. The lot address is 1402 Regent Street. Patrons that park in the main lot or covered lot are subject to a citation and/or being towed at the owner’s expense. Please note that as communicated during Badger Select, for the August 28th game versus Miami (OH), the Regent West lot is unavailable for parking, due to tenant move-in. Regent West permit holders were mailed a complimentary parking pass in Lot 46 (301 N.Lake Street; Lake & Johnson Ramp) for August 28.
Q. I have a parking pass valid for Lot 17, Levels 1-4. May I park on the Lot 17 Roof?
A. No. A Lot 17, Levels 1-4 parking pass is not valid for parking on the Lot 17 Roof. A Lot 17 Roof pass is only valid for Lot 17 Roof. Lot 17 Roof permit holders are reminded to follow other tailgating procedures as outlined on this page, including but not limited to, occupying one stall per parking pass, responsibly tailgating within the immediate area of their vehicle and not blocking any drive or fire lanes.
Q. Where can I park my Bus/RV?
A. Click Here for information regarding Bus/RV parking.
Q. What times do parking lots open?
A. Times in which parking lots open varies by sport, event and lot. For weeknight football games, lots will open by 4:30 pm. For Saturday football games with an 11 a.m. kickoff, lots will open by 6 a.m. For Saturday football games with a kickoff later than 11 a.m., lots will open beginning at 7 a.m. For football, parking for the Friends Meetinghouse begins three (3) hours prior to kick-off.
Q. May I park overnight?
A. Overnight parking is prohibited in all University-operated lots. All parking lots close at 1 a.m. the day after the game.
Q. Where can I tailgate?
A. Patrons who have purchased a special events parking permit and their guests may responsibly tailgate within the immediate area of their parking space. Patrons may not block a drive or fire lane with their tailgate. Please note that for football, Lot 34 is alcohol free.
Q. Am I allowed to grill when I tailgate?
A. Grilling is permitted on the asphalt of surface parking lots, provided that the tailgate area is not within the drive or fire lane. Grills need to be placed in a safe location to prevent damage to cars. No open flame or wood fires permitted.
Grills, both propane and electric, are prohibited within any parking ramp or garage.
Q. What do I do with my used charcoals?
A. Used charcoals must be placed in metal buckets, doused with water and must leave with the vehicle post-event. Charcoals may not be disposed of in the parking lot dumpster or trash receptacle, nor may they be left in the landscaping of the parking lot.
Q. Are tents allowed?
A. Pop-up tents are not allowed on the roof of parking structures, including but not limited to Lots 17, 20, 36, 46, 67 and 76. Any tent placed in or on a building must comply with the building code for anchoring and wind loads precautions.
Pop-up tents are allowed in surface lots but must be weighed down per manufacturer requirements. Tents must be taken down when unattended to prevent damage to any other vehicle in the area.
Q. How many parking stalls may I occupy?
A. Only occupy the number of parking stalls for the number of parking passes you have. If you have one parking pass, you may only occupy one parking stall. If you have two parking passes, you may occupy a maximum of two parking stalls. Under no circumstances may a patron occupy more stalls than you have parking passes for.
Q. Will there be a place for me to dispose of my trash?
A. Most parking lots have either a dumpster or trash receptacle bin with which to dispose of trash where space is available. Patrons must respect the property and leave the parking lot in the condition in which it was found.
Q. Are portable restrooms available in the parking lot?
A. Most, but not all, lots have portable restrooms. Lots with restrooms include Lot 16, 17, 20, 33, 34, 36, 39, 40B, 40S, 41, 44, 45, 51, 56, 60, 64, 67, 76, 87, 92 and Regent West. Additional restrooms are located outside of Camp Randall Stadium for use prior to gates opening.
Q. Are there any items that I am prohibited from bringing into a parking lot?
A. Weapons of any kind are prohibited from being brought into parking lots. Please review the Wisconsin Athletics Carry-In policy here for further information.
Generator use is allowed. Use in a fully vented space away from tailgaters. No refueling on-site. Gasoline dissolves asphalt and damages landscape spaces.
Q. What should we do in case of an emergency?
A. In the event of police, fire or medical emergency, call 911. Provide your exact parking lot number, location and address to the dispatcher as displayed on your special event hang tag.
It is recommended that all vehicles have a fire extinguisher in case of emergency, especially for tailgaters that are grilling.
