A Naples, Fla., native, Alex Robles came to the University of Wisconsin after an outstanding senior season at Barron Collier High School, during which the Cougars won the state championship team title. Robles also won the singles and doubles state championships as a senior and was named the Naples Daily News Boys Tennis Player of the Year. In his rookie season, Robles recorded an overall record of 13-11 in singles action.
