Thomas Breitbach joined the Badger staff in the fall of 2019, having coached throughout Wisconsin at all levels of the NCAA, including positions at Marquette University and Edgewood College. Most recently, he served as the head men's and women's cross country/track & field coach at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. In his three year tenure, he oversaw 21 school records, 28 all-conference performances, and a pair of All-Americans.
In addition, Breitbach has worked with post-collegiate endurance athletes for the past 10 years. Coaching a wide range of athletes and abilities, he has guided three US Olympic Trials qualifiers in the marathon and seven top-20 finishes at USATF road national championships.
Originally from Muskego, Wisconsin, Breitbach competed collegiately at UW-Eau Claire, where he was a four-time NCAA Division III All-American. A former conference and school record holder, he was a captain on the university's first NCAA qualifying cross country team in a decade, and helped lead the 2012 track and field team to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships and USTFCCCA Scholar Team of the Year honors.
