    Director of Athlete Administration - Strategic Counsel
Justin Reid is the Director of Athlete Administration for UW Athletics, a newly created role designed to enhance operational efficiency and strategic support across Wisconsin’s sports programs. In the role, Justin works closely with sport-specific General Managers and Head Coaches to oversee revenue share management, contract administration, and cap enforcement. Reporting directly to the Deputy AD/COO – General Manager, he is also key in liaising with player representatives, conducting marketplace research, and shaping strategic initiatives.

Prior to Wisconsin, Justin spent five years with the National Football League in the league office. In his most recent role, he worked in the Management Council with the Player Personnel and Labor Operations groups. Justin oversaw daily club transactions and the waiver wire, assisted with daily management of the salary cap, drafted/enforced policies, reviewed player/non-player contracts and was the point of contact for colleges as it pertained to NFL rules surrounding college student athletes. He was pivotal in the success of the NFL Draft, overseeing the research of prospects entering each draft and managing the selection process on draft day. 

Before joining Management Council, Justin served as Manager of Football Operations & Administration, where he oversaw the NFL-NFLRA Collective Bargaining Agreement and supported key league committees, including the Competition Committee and Player Health & Safety. He also played an instrumental role in the daily operations of the Officiating department and served as Chief of Staff to the NFL’s Chief Football Administrative Officer, helping coordinate strategic initiatives across the league’s football operations.

Justin also has previous experience in the agency space, working for Athletes First, CAA and GSE Worldwide, having assisted with player contract negotiations, player marketing deals, as well as provided counsel on business acquisitions. Before his work with agencies, Justin worked in Football Operations for the New England Patriots, and had previous experience in college athletics working with the Rhode Island Rams as a property assistant with Rhody Sports Properties.

Through his work, he has been recognized for his expertise by serving as a judge for the Villanova Law Professional Football Negotiation Competition in 2024 and 2025. Justin received his degree in Business Administration and Public Relations from the University of Rhode Island in December of 2015, thereafter, earning his Juris Doctorate from Hofstra Law in May of 2019. He is a native of Suffern, New York.
