Maria Dehnert started as the Associate Director of Badger Inquiry on Sport (BIOS) in 2022.
She previously worked for Legends and Wisconsin Athletics as a Development Officer (2019-2021) and as the Lead Development Officer, Annual Giving (2021-2022) and she also worked as a Research Assistant for Professor Peter Miller in the University of Wisconsin School of Education. She is a published author of "Reframing the Discourse on Readiness and Athletics: A Charge for Researchers."
Previously, she was a high school teacher in Wisconsin and Minnesota. She also began her career at Wisconsin Athletics as a Community Relations Associate (2018-19).
Dehnert earned a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the UW and an undergraduate degree from Bemidji State University, where she was captain and four-year letter-winner on the women's soccer team.
She and her husband live in Madison, Wis.
