September 23, 2001 | Men's Soccer
Senior forward Aaron Lauber notched the game-winning goal just 5:19 into the game as the University of Wisconsin men's soccer team held Texas Christian scoreless to gain a 2-0 victory in TCU's home tournament today.
UW goalkeeper Moriba Atiba Baker recorded a season-best nine saves en route to his ninth career shutout.
Lauber scored his fourth goal of the season, and second game-winner, off a pass from senior forward Dominic DaPra at the 5:19 mark of the first half. The Badgers gained some insurance just before halftime as junior midfielder Perry Smith found freshman David Martinez for a goal in the 44th minute. The goal marked the first points of the season for both Smith and Martinez.
The Horned Frogs outshot Wisconsin 19-16 in the contest while each team attempted five corner kicks. TCU goalie Michael Lahoud posted eight saves.
Wisconsin returns home to host Marquette for a 7:00 p.m. game on Wednesday, Sept. 26 before the Badgers open their Big Ten schedule at home against No. 13 Ohio State at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
