Two Women's Soccer Badgers Earn Big Ten Honors
November 08, 2002 | Women's Soccer
Junior Jenny Kundert and rookie Marisa Brown were honored for their 2002 performances Friday morning at the 2002 Big Ten Tournament banquet in East Lansing, Mich. Kundert was named to the All-Big Ten first team and Brown earned All-Big Ten freshman team honors.
It is Kundert's second All-Big Ten honor and her first first-team All-Big Ten honor. In 2000, Kundert was named to the second team. It is the first first-team honor for the Badgers since Allison Wagner in 2000. Last year, Allie Rogosheske was named second team All-Big Ten.
Kundert finished the regular season leading the Badgers in goals, points and assists. It was the Badgers' first outright 'triple-crown ' since Erica Handelman led the team in all three categories in 1993. In the Badgers' first Big Ten tournament game this year, Kundert tallied an assist on UW 's lone goal.
Badger rookie Marisa Brown was named to the newly created All-Big Ten Freshman team. Brown started every game she played in as a freshman and tallied two goals and one assist. Those tallies came in one game as Brown notched a five-point game versus Davidson.
Brown and Kundert were two of four Badgers to register multi-goal games this season. Brown scored two versus Davidson, while Kundert had three two-goal games. Kundert netted two goals against Northwestern, Michigan State and Iowa State.
