The Wisconsin Badgers, with 176 points, share ninth place in the 2002-03 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Directors Cup fall standings.
Three completed fall sports for Wisconsin scored, including the UW's mens cross country team. The Badgers finished second at the 2002 NCAA Men's Cross Country Championships to earn 90 points. The UW also finished 17th in women's soccer, and 19th in women's cross country for 50 points and 36 points, respectively.
The Badgers are tied for ninth with Big Ten Conference-member Michigan State. Stanford leads the standings with 353 points, while Wake Forest ranks second with 277 points. Penn State leads four top-10 Big Ten schools in third place with 269 points. Notre Dame, with 229 points, and Michigan, with 209 points, round out the top five.
The standings are based upon the completion of women and men's cross country, field hockey and women and men's soccer.
The NACDA Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women's and 10 men's. Each national champion receives 100 points.
