Badger Men in 14th at First Energy Intercollegiate

The Wisconsin men's golf team is in 14th-place after the first day of action at the First Energy Intercollegiate in Akron, Ohio. The Badgers carded rounds of 302 and 300 to end the day with a 602 at par-72 Firestone Country Club's North Course.
Junior Joel Rechlicz had a solid day, shooting a 74-74'148 to sit tied for 33rd heading into the final round. Classmate Jon Turcott was a shot back at 76-73'149 to tie for 38th.
Freshmen Michael Baldwin (T51, 74-77'151), Dylan Esterling (T66, 78-76'154) and Kevin Tassistro (T82, 78-80'158) also contributed for Wisconsin.
Big Ten foe Penn State has the team lead with a 1-under-par 295-280 '575, one shot better than Miami of Ohio. Eric Phipps of Miami (OH) tops the individual leaderboard with an 8-under-par 71-65-136.
Final-round action of the First Energy Intercollegiate takes place tomorrow with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
