Turcott at NCAA Central Regional Tournament

Wisconsin's Jon Turcott endured rainy conditions to shoot a two-over 74 today after the second round of the 54-hole NCAA Central Regional Tournament in Little Rock, Ark.Thunderstorms delayed both the first and second rounds of the 54-hole tourney, but Oklahoma State continued its torrid pace shooting a second round 281 to remain in first with an eight-under 568.
Purdue is the only other team under par shooting a 279 today, one stroke back of the Cowboys with a 569. Purdue has the top two scorers in Lee Williamson who, despite wet conditions, shot 67 for a 36-hole eight-under-par 137. Teammate Chris Mayson had a seven-under-par 65 today to finish one-stroke back of Williamson.
Turcott, playing in his first NCAA tournament, shot a 74 today to tie for 81st with a seven-over 151. Heavy thunderstorms moved through the Little Rock area Friday morning, and the players were called off the course at 8:42 a.m. Play resumed at 11:30 a.m., pushing back the afternoon tee times. At 6:08 p.m., the air horns were again sounded, summoning players from the course once again. Several teams will have to finish on Saturday.
Play concludes with 18 holes on Saturday. The top 12 teams and four individuals not part of teams qualify for the NCAA Championship at Columbus, Ohio.
