Jon Turcott has been invited to attend the NCAA Central Regional Tournament May 16-18 in Little Rock, Ark. Turcott, who led the Badgers in eight of 10 meets this season and earned all-Big Ten Conference honors, was asked to attend the meet as an alternate.
The junior from Middleton, Wis., is the first Badger since Ben Walters in 1994 to qualify for the NCAA regional. He will compete in the 54-hole regional next Thursday-Saturday on the par 72 Pleasant Valley Country Club course.
Turcott led the Badgers through 28 rounds this season averaging 73.71 strokes per round. He had the second best 36 and 54-hole totals in school history when he shot a 67-68-70'207 to win the Badger Invitational last fall.
Twenty-seven teams and six individuals have qualified for the regional. The top 10 teams and top two individuals not on teams will advance to the NCAA National Championship May 26-June 2 at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
