Marshall, Zakrzewski Tally Qualifying Times

Wisconsin men's swimmers Matt Marshall and Kevin Zakrzewski swam nationals qualifying times Sunday at the Janet Evans Invitational in Los Angeles. Marshall and Zakrzewski earned their qualifying times in the 100 meter butterfly and 100 meter breaststroke, respectively.
Zakrzewski garnered third place in the 100 breast, touching the pad at 1:04.87. Marshall took fourth in the 100 fly (55.61).
Also in the 100 fly, Pat Torpey took 21st place with a 57.27. Brian Neuman finished 21st (1:07.47) in the 100 breast and added a 24th (2:16.44) position in the 200 IM bonus finals.
Chris Anderson and Matt Zuiderhof also advanced to event finals on Sunday. Zuiderhof took 22nd (2:11.67) in the 200 IM and Anderson advanced to the 100 back bonus final with a 1:00.52 in prelims, but was disqualified. Andrew Ackley took 20th (16:30.38) in the 1500 free.
Next up for the Badgers is the 2002 Phillips 66 National Championships, Aug 12-17, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Based on performances at the national championships, athletes will be selected to represent the United States at the 2002 Pan Pacific Championships, the 2003 World Championships, the 2003 World University Games and the 2003 Pan American Games.
