Badgers Reach Milestone with 300th Victory
October 17, 2003 | Men's Soccer
Wednesday's 2-1 win over Marquette was more than just a big win over an in-state opponent. For the Wisconsin men's soccer team, it marked the 300th victory in team history.
The men's soccer program played its first season in 1977 and finished with a 7-6-1 record. In the program's 27 years, the team has made five NCAA tournament appearances and brought home the National Championship in 1995.
In `95, the Badgers were also Big Ten co-champs and tallied 17 shutouts, which remains the conference record. Wisconsin also finished first in the Big Ten in `91 and `92 for regular season play.
The Badgers recorded their 100th and 200th under former head coach Jim Launder in 1985 and 1993, respectively.
Wisconsin looks for win no. 301 as it travels to Michigan on Sunday to take on the Wolverines.
