Despite chilly racing conditions with temperatures in the 40s and cloudy skies, the Badger women's openweight crew raced at the Head of the Iowa on the Iowa River, Sunday.

In the novice open eight, the Badgers placed second with a time of 15:29.4. Minnesota again took the race, clocking a 15:29.4.
Finally, Wisconsin swept the top two positions in the novice women 's four with Wisconsin A first in 16:47 and Wisconsin B in 17:45. Creighton earned third place with a time of 17:46.
'Our team raced in pairs in order to make the lineups for the varsity eights for this regatta,' head coach Maren LaLiberty. 'We learned we need to have more consistent performances from day-to-day. We also realized how much potential we have as a team and how much we desire to win in the spring. The next time we will be racing will be against Columbia in mid-March. We believe we will be a more refined and mature team at that point.'
